About us

Our story

How it all began.

How it all began

From a dream, to a concept, to a single camp in Georgia, to 25 camps spanning the globe.

One week can change a life. One week can change the world.

Milestones

One camp became many

  1. 1992

    One camp in Georgia

Camp Swamp begins in Georgia, USA: multiple weeks each summer where young people belong, play and meet God.

  2. 2010

    The first camp abroad

A team of campers and counselors carries the culture to Jamaica. Swamp Corps is born.

  3. 2012

    Africa, and an observation

South Africa becomes the first camp in Africa. That year, Director Jennifer Rorabaugh says: “The Older Generation plants churches, the Younger Generation will plant camps.”

  4. 2013

    South America

Brazil hosts its first Swamp Camp.

  5. 2014

    Asia

India hosts its first Swamp Camp.

  6. 2020

    A pause, not a stop

COVID interrupts travel. Swamp Virtual Camp gathers 1,100 participants from 36 countries.

  7. Today

    25 camps, 23 countries

1,074 young people have gone and grown. Each camp is handed to local leaders within three years, and most keep going.
